From that list, there are a variety of words and colloquialisms that "can't be said" for a variety of reasons dictated by society. And if the Special Olympics have their way, the word "retard" may soon be amongst them. While normally the Special Olympics are overlooked by mainstream society, an unintended verbal gaffe by President Obama on the Tonight Show (referring to his bowling ability as on par with the Special Olympics) may have actually provided a coincidentally timed spotlight on the organization to get their message out.
