In 1941, the Willys MA set the stage for what would become one of the most versatile off-road vehicles ever. Hailed as the vehicle that won World War II, it’s deep rooted history with the military (on-line video) continued until the M-151 model was displaced by the HMMWV (High Mobility Multi-purpose Wheeled Vehicle) in 1989.
Now, almost twenty years and three generations of Wranglers later, Chrysler LLC introduced the J8 as a utility truck at DSEi (Defence Systems & Equipment International). Sporting a beefed up Wrangler JK frame, a four cylinder diesel engine and a snorkel, the J8 "…marks the brand’s return to vehicle production for military and civilian government use."
