Using Google to Hack
Using Google to obtain secret information is hardly new. Simply searching for files is easier than breaking into a system to read it. But now, hackers have a new tool at their disposal - Google Code Search. The system was designed with the noble intention of cataloging source code across the Internet to make it easier for developers to find solutions. However, it is already being used to find web applications that make use of faulty code. Searching for all applications "featuring" a known vulnerability simplifies the task of casing targets. Typically, hackers focus their efforts on applications with a large scope of deployment or targets promising lucrative secrets. Combined with Google APIs, hacking scripts can be further automated to easily troll the entire Internet taking advantage of ALL vulnerable systems that would have previously been overlooked.
