Full Circle Foreign Policy
For nearly the entire Bush Presidency, armchair generals were speculating the United States would invade Iran, especially as the uranium enrichment broo-haha began. The invasions never happened but the prolonged conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan dragged America's street credit down in the eyes of the global community. But times have changed, President Obama went on his world apology tour and America's favor is up to nearly 60% from 21%. Not everything has changed, Iran taunted the world and pumped up its uranium enrichment leading to new sanctions, a situation that is unacceptable according to the President. Perhaps that newfound goodwill may come in handy one day, noise from Secretary of Defense Gates indicates the dust is being blown off the old plans, or maybe its just a measure of diplomatic posturing.
